Exam Proctoring

Distance learning and correspondence courses are increasingly popular methods of obtaining advanced education, and are often the only way citizens can complete specialized programs of study locally and in a cost-effective manner. The Burlington Public Library agrees to cooperate with institutions of higher learning in providing exam proctoring services as a courtesy to area residents to support their lifelong learning goals. This service is subject to the availability of authorized staff.

Please Note

Exam proctoring services at Burlington Public Library are temporarily suspended until further notice. Patrons seeking proctoring services may inquire with the Skagit Valley College Testing Center; the Everett Community College Testing Center; and Sylvan Learning Centers in Everett, Lynnwood, Monroe, Oak Harbor, Snohomish, and Stanwood. Other general sites for information about proctoring include the National College Testing Association as well as other college testing centers and learning/tutoring centers.

Proctoring Procedures

Arrangements should be made with a library staff member at least one week in advance in order allow time to schedule a room/laptop and provide confirmations. Examinations should be taken during library operating hours. It may be possible to schedule a test before 10 a.m., at the discretion of the staff member who will serve as proctor.

All test taking requirements must be received from the issuing educational institution before any tests are taken. Students must bring photo identification to present to the proctor at test time.

Fees

The library charges a $10 proctoring fee to cover expenses and staff time (cash or check only). If materials need to be mailed by the library, the student or institution will be responsible for providing a pre-addressed, stamped return envelope with adequate postage.
