Dog Registration
You may obtain a dog license at the Burlington Police Department located at 311 Cedar Street, Suite B, Burlington, during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

Dog license fees are $5.00 an altered dog and $20.00 for an un-altered dog. The license is good for the remainder of the current calendar year and should be renewed at the beginning of the new calendar year.

You can fill out a registration form in the office or click here to fill out the form online. Once it's complete, print it off and bring it into the police department to pay the fee and receive your dog tag.

Dog distraining/redemption fee is $90.00. A distraining/redemption fee may be charged to the animal owner if the animal has been transferred to SPOT, and is reclaimed by the owner. Any other fees, including boarding and veterinary care (if needed) may be included in the redemption fee. Animals not claimed by the owner within 10 days become property of SPOT and are evaluated for adoption.
