Edible Book Contest
The public is invited to enter the Burlington Public Library's Edible Book Contest! Harness your creativity to make an edible creation inspired by a literary work or character. See competition guidelines below for more information, and call 360-755-0760 with any questions.                                       

Edible Book Contest Rules

1. Each Edible Book must depict a literary work or character.

2. Each creation must be 95% edible. The base can be no larger than 18x24 inches. Entries will be without refrigeration and on display so it must not be made of perishable ingredients.

3. Entries must be family friendly. The library reserves the right to reject any entries which are deemed to be inappropriate or offensive.

4. By entering this contest, the creator of the ‘edible book’ is giving Burlington Public Library permission to photograph and publish information on the creation and its creator on, but not limited to, the library’s website, social media platforms, library publications, and other community publications of the library’s choosing.

5. Each creation should have a copy of the book or a photograph of the book being depicted along with the entry.

6. Complete the official entry form at the library and submit it along with your entry.

7. Edible Book entries must be delivered to the Burlington Public Library on Friday, April 14th by 5:00pm.

8. Each entry will be judged on the following criteria by our judges and April 15th at 1:00pm: (a) Most Appetizing; (b) Best Literary Representation; and (c) Best Visual Presentation. There will also be a people’s choice category for the public vote from 10:00am-12:45pm. Judging will be determined by the number of votes a work receives from both the public and judges; all decisions will be final.

9. Participants must pick up their entries by 5:00pm on April 15th, or they will be discarded by the library.
