Responsibilities

The Engineering Department provides technical support to other city departments and provides assistance with private project developments and city-financed projects. The department reviews all site plans for development in Burlington, including parking lot areas, streets and utility improvements.

The department is responsible for capital facilities projects including streets, sewers, pump stations, sidewalks and traffic signals.

Burlington's engineering department has three state-licensed professional engineers on staff.

The Engineering Department also keeps all of the engineering records for the city, which include drawings of subdivisions, commercial entities, and street and sewer projects.
