Imagine Your Story Reading Challenge and Early Learner BINGO

June 15-August, ages birth-12

It is almost time for kids to pick up their fourth and final prize! Starting August 10th, kids can come to the library and pick out their free book to take home.  The books are displayed in a window on the right side of the building (if you were to face the front door).  Take a look, choose a book, and call us to tell us which book you would like us to bring out to you! We will bring the book prize to the front doors and place it on the table, just like we do with the Express Holds items!

Have a younger child? Try our new program, Early Learner BINGO (English/Spanish). Complete the fairy tale activities together to earn books and prizes and enter for a chance to win a birthday party at the Children’s Museum of Skagit County. See the reading log or bingo card for complete details.

Re-Imagining Summer Reading

Independent readers are encouraged to imagine their story with Burlington Public Library’s fairy tale summer reading challenge. Read daily, earn prizes, and work for a chance to win one of the grand prizes: a Kindle Fire or a birthday party at the Children’s Museum of Skagit County!

This year, children have three ways to participate in summer reading at Burlington Public Library.

Start by choosing your reading program (for Early Learner BINGO see above or the Summer Reading Challenge, see below); documents may be picked up at the library, TriParish Food Bank, select BESD summer meal sites, or downloaded here: English/Spanish

Next, choose which programs you’d like to use:

Take and Make Activities- Mondays 6/15-8/17, 10 am, ages 2-12
Pick up a new summer reading activity kit at Burlington Public Library every Monday starting June 15th. Activities include instructions and main materials and may or may not need adult assistance in creating. Limited activities will also be distributed through the TriParish Food Bank and select BESD summer meal sites. Supplies are limited and distributed on a first come, first served basis, there are no holds.

Make and Share- Wednesdays 6/24-8/12 10:30 am, ages 3-6
Is your preschooler making amazing creations at home? Are they particularly proud of a painting, invention, or recipe they made? Join Librarian Jennifer and local preschool families via Zoom every Wednesday to share your amazing creations and be inspired by other little inventors. Send an email to Librarian Jennifer with your child’s name and age to be invited.

If you have questions or need reading recommendations, feel free to contact Librarian Jennifer at jenniferlb@burlingtonwa.gov. Happy reading!
